Luke Belzer

Quality, Not Quantity

Luke Belzer

Luke Belzer got a late start on his 2013 XC season as he jumped into his first race about half way through the season. On top of that, he even missed a couple more races due to injury or illness. But Luke has made up for lack of competition with quality races. At the All-League Meet, he managed to crack the top five of our runners at the varsity level. His last 400 meters was very aggressive as he passed several other competitors to place 18th of the 34 participants. His time of 19:05.3 was the second fastest of his life, and a 21 second Black Course PR. Another performance like that next week should ensure that he earns Honorable Mention when it comes to League Honors next month.

"Can't Wait 'til Next Year!"

Emma Boyle

Emma Boyle decided to leave her best race for last at the All-League Meet at Hockinson Meadows. The amazing part about it is that she was too sick last week to race! We are still not convinced she was totally healthy when she stepped on the bus to face her last race of the season. Her time of 27:32.9 was a 50 second Black Course PR. The most memorable moment of the day was during the awards where she was caught with a huge smile on her face as she held up 3 fingers, signifying the place of the ribbon she earned in the Future Varsity Race. All in all, Emma had a wonderful time this season and has vowed to train diligently so she can make an impact at the Varsity Level for the Panthers next year!
