Chism King

"It Must Be The Uniform!"

Chism King

Last week, all our team wore our standard black uniforms, except for one... Senior Chism King. Last race, he wore the older white uniform (shown above). Before the Finn Hill 5000, Chism got to upgrade his uniform to the back ones. On the course, he truly upgraded his performance as well. Chism ran with solid form for the first three miles, but was even more impressive the last 0.1 miles, with an incredibly strong kick, finishing over 2 1/2 minutes faster than last week. Was it the uniform? More likely, it was really the Panther inside the uniform. Either way, it was the difference between day and night, or should I say "white and black".

Kalli Light

"Isn't It Two Big Loops Then One Small Loop?"

Kalli Light

First-time cross country runner Sophomore Kalli Light spent some time getting her feet wet, literally, at the Finn Hill 5,000 Invitational Saturday. She must have enjoyed the cooler weather because she slashed 2:09 off her P.R. from the prior week. Her time of 26:15.1 was extremely impressive considering the slower, muddy course, and finished second in the junior varsity race to boot. When congratulated afterward, Kalli offered a modest, "Thanks, that was fun!" She accomplish this feat despite the fact that the race organizers got a bit confused on the course for the first go-round, and the Future Varsity girls had to make a last minute alteration... She now sports a wood carved medal from the inaugural race.
